Details
Features such as seat elevation and anterior tilt in both manual and power wheelchairs have been shown to improve client’s abilities to perform functional and social tasks within their homes, workplace, and community. These features increase active reach, decrease repetitive injuries, aid in transfers, and improve social connections and communication.
Learning Objectives:
1. Describe three types of power wheelchair seat height adjustments, and list three products with these features
2. List three types of manual wheelchairs that incorporate “on the fly” adjustable seat height features
3. Discuss four benefits of using adjustable seat heights on wheelchairs
4. Describe the “lived experience” of using adjustable seat height technologies
