Details

The benefit of early independent mobility has been substantiated for decades. However, therapists are often hesitant to suggest alternative mobility for young children with cerebral palsy and/or severe developmental delays of unknown etiology. This workshop will discuss the benefits of early mobility for young children with significant physical disabilities. Learning Objectives: 1. Describe the impact of mobility on typical development 2. Choose an appropriate mobility device based on evidenced based expected outcomes and performance level 3. Describe the benefits of overground mobility vs. robotic vs. treadmill interventions 4. Describe how the GMFCS and GMFM 66 percentiles can help guide decisions about mobility interventions and assistive devices
