The session will explore the pros and cons of various back supports types including sling, tension adjustable and rigid backs. Critical measurements will be reviewed for width and length of back prescription with a hands on portion for back height. Properties of back supports with clinical implications will be explored.
Learning Objectives:
1. List three measurements that are performed to assist in a back support prescription for a wheelchair user
2. Relate three features of back supports to the functional needs and abilities of the clients who use wheelchairs
3. Describe three options of back supports for manual wheelchair users
