Details
A client’s vision can have a significant impact on his/her seating and wheeled mobility. Having an understanding of a high incidence visual impairment such as cortical visual impairment (CVI) will help participants evaluate, make recommendations, and implement appropriate equipment for individuals with CVI who utilize wheelchairs.
Learning Objectives:
1. Define cortical visual impairment
2. List the common characteristics individuals with CVI present
3. Identify at least three considerations to take into account when conducting a seating and mobility evaluation on a client with CVI
4. List at least three adaptations that can be made to a seating system that may improve outcomes for a client with CVI
