Details
For atheletes playing recreational sports, many cannot afford customized chairs. This leads to modifications of chairs without assistance from physiotherapists. These adaptations are not perspective. They can lead to shoulder injuries and changes in propulsion mechanics. Modifications for improved performance and reduced detriment to musculoskeletal system will be provided.
Learning Objectives:
1. Examine the biophysical effects of participating in wheelchair sports
2. Evaluate both practical and physiological solutions to wheelchair modification
3. Identify members of the team responsible for recreational wheelchair fitting
